Favini's sustainability concept is based on the idea that modern packaging must not only be functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also environmentally friendly, starting with the choice of raw materials used, such as paper. Favini papers, marked with the Paper from our Echosystem logo, are guaranteed to be the most environmentally friendly and have the following characteristics:
- are made from eco-innovative raw materials such as recycled fibres, materials from textile or agro-industrial waste or alternative fibres such as bamboo;
- non-avoidable emissions have been fully offset;
- produced with renewable energy;
- are FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, recyclable and biodegradable;
- made in a factory that monitors and manages water, energy and CO2 emissions.
The Echosystem range already includes six types of paper: Alga Carta, which contains seaweed; Crush, made from agro-industrial waste; Remake, made from leather processing waste; Refit, made from textile industry waste; Shiro Echo, a 100% recycled paper; and Tree Free, made from 75% bamboo and 25% cotton linters.
The term Echosystem was chosen to evoke ecology. It is derived from the word "ecosystem", which represents a dynamic set of substances in balance that adapts to its environment, just like Echosystem products. In addition, the word was deliberately spelled with the letter 'h' to include the word “echo”, which in Italian means “sonorous echo”, underlining Favini's commitment to the circular economy and the recovery of waste materials rather than sending everything to landfill.
