October 2024 marks a significant milestone in sustainable pet food packaging: Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Saga Nutrition, a French pet food producer, to launch an innovative recyclable bag for dry pet food.
The new packaging – re/cycle FlexiBag – replaces traditional multi-material plastic, which is difficult to recycle, with a mono-material structure designed to be easily recycled within existing waste streams. It complies with CEFLEX recycling guidelines and meets Mondi’s rigorous internal sustainability standards as outlined in the Path to Circularity Scorecard.
Available in sizes from 3kg upwards, the bag offers high barrier properties against moisture, grease and odours, thereby preserving the freshness and integrity of the contents. A secure closure ensures easy storage and handling, while its durability makes it ideal for logistics and transportation.
