Avery Dennison, a US-based materials science and digital identification solutions company, is moving to a bespoke carbon footprinting tool developed in partnership with the Carbon Trust (a trade association set up by the UK government to drive decarbonisation in business, government and financial institutions) to continue its drive for transparency and continuous improvement in measuring and reporting the environmental impact of its label products.

As customers and regulators demand more credible information about product impacts, and as the US multinational seeks more accurate ways to measure improvements in its processing and sourcing decisions, the Carbon Trust's footprinting tool includes the use of verified primary data from Avery Dennison's operations to more accurately measure the impact of current and future label products.

Claudia Mariconda, Global Director Sustainability, Materials Group, said:

As a company, we've been monitoring and assessing the sustainability of our products for the past ten years and this is another important step forward in our goal to provide the most accurate information to our customers. By implementing the Carbon Trust footprinting tool, we are facilitating further transparency and offering customers a more trustworthy assessment of our label products’ impacts.

The Carbon Trust footprinting tool is designed to provide information on the greenhouse gas and water footprint of a growing range of Avery Dennison's label and packaging products worldwide, including selected faces, liners and adhesives.
