Making laundry more sustainable with Greenpackt®

Angelini Technologies-Fameccanica has developed a patented system to produce recycled cardboard packaging for single-use detergent capsules for the Spanish company BlueSun.

Greenpackt® is an innovative technology that automates the production of eco-sustainable packaging for single-use detergents, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of daily household activities such as clothes washing. Patented in Europe and the United States, the system is designed and marketed by Angelini TechnologiesFameccanica (a subsidiary of Angelini Industries, an Italian industrial group active in health, industrial technology and FMCG sectors).

Greenpackt® produces packaging from recycled cardboard fibres, reducing CO2 emissions by 50% during the production process compared to equivalent plastic packaging*. These packs are recyclable and include a certified and patented child-resistant opening system providing a secure locking mechanisms.

An integrated machine-product system
Angelini Technologies-Fameccanica engineered, designed and built the Greenpackt® machine able to produce this remarkable packaging solution. The machine features a system with independent trolleys, offering maximum flexibility and the ability to adapt to different types of packaging dimensions, with a production rate of up to 100 cycles per minute. Greenpackt® packs can hold from 15 to 60 single-use detergent capsules, with dimensions ranging from 150 x 95 x 95 millimetres to 240 x 170 x 185 millimetres. Flexibility, sustainability, and safety are the key features of this system, which was recently chosen by BlueSun, a Spanish company with 500 employees and a turnover of 300 million euros that manufactures household hygiene products such as detergents, fabric softeners, bleach, and room fragrances for 12 brands across 26 countries.

«The automated production of packaging for consumer goods has always been central to our R&D activities. By introducing increasingly innovative and greener production processes in our sector, we aim to make a substantial contribution towards sustainability,

explained Alessandro Bulfon, CEO of Angelini TechnologiesFameccanica.

To provide its customers with a comprehensive and integrated process for both product and packaging, Angelini Technologies-Fameccanica proposes the S15. This platform produces single-use detergent capsules and features an innovative, patented robotic detergent dosing mechanism and a vision-based quality control system, which reduce waste and ensure a production speed of 1,500 capsules per minute.
