Master Gianluigi Toccafondo, artist, animator and illustrator from San Marino (Italy), has signed the animation for the launch of the new sustainable packaging of Salcheto, a winery based in Montepulciano (Siena). The new and ambitious project was presented at the last edition of Vinitaly (Verona, 2-5 April), where the Montepulciano-based company unveiled its new packaging in line with its pro-environmental policy. It is a new lightweight bottle with a recycled and recyclable PET capsule.
Michele Manelli, founder of Salcheto, told the story:
A story that is by no means self-evident, created by master winemaker Gianluigi Toccafondo, who has defined the language which the entire wine world would like to adopt, combining the typically objective aspects that characterise it in an experiential story full of emotion, ending with a bottle so light that it flies away.
Lightweight glass is a real mission for Salcheto, which has reduced its carbon footprint by up to 40% since 2010. Today, thanks to its partnership with Verallia Italia, it has launched a new customised container which, for the first time, weighs less than 400 grams: the "Bordolese Salcheto". Verallia, with its strong commitment to the environment, has been passionately involved in this project and has set itself unprecedented goals, which will be the strength of future developments in the supply chain.
