Zuivere Koffie collaborated with Metsä Board - leading European producer of premium fresh fibre paperboards - and with the converter, Remmert Dekker Packaging, in order to create a packaging capable of drawing the attention and supporting the special story of its new range of organic coffee: the first one in the world roasted in a prison.
Zuivere Koffie offers motivated current and former prisoners a second chance by learning a new craft, giving them a fair chance of a successful return to society. For the outstanding package, have been created five different printed designs - one for each of the five different coffees in the range - with a graphic style similar to that of tattoos, rich with symbolism. To create packaging with good tactility, MetsäBoard Classic FBB 290 g/m2 was selected thanks to its superior stiffness and excellent sensory and hygienic properties, which provided high performance in printing and converting.
For maximum impact, thickening bubble spot UV varnish was used to emphasise the graphic artwork lines printed on the uncoated side to express the tactile effect. MetsäBoard Classic FBB, used for the outer packaging, was printed with environmentally friendly inks and can be easily recycled after the use. Also the internal plastic packaging, unlike traditional coffee packages, made with films coupled with an aluminum layer, can be recycled with plastic, with its unique patented plastic valve.
