PLAST 2023, from 5 to 8 September in the pavilions of Fiera Milano in Rho, will focus on the major themes that are shaping the plastics and rubber industry market in a transversal way. The spotlight will be on innovations and opportunities linked to the evolution of production paradigms in a circular perspective, which, together with sustainability and energy savings, are the key themes of PLAST 2023.
Themes that will be central not only for the exhibition offer, but also for the realisation of the event itself, which for this edition aims at achieving better results in terms of sustainability. Part of this process is possible thanks to Fiera Milano, which for some time now has been committed to a constant path of reducing the environmental impact and CO2 emissions generated by the events taking place in its Exhibition Centre, through the control of logistics operations, correct waste management and a sustainable catering offer.
Promaplast, the organiser of PLAST, therefore wants to be a virtuous example of this sensitivity and adhere to the canons of sustainability that are today considered an imperative objective. Among the aspects that characterise this approach is, for example, the availability of set-ups that respect the canons of ecodesign and catering services, such as those proposed by the Banco Alimentare Foundation, attentive to these issues.
Not only that, for the first time Promaplast offers the possibility to start a Carbon Footprint path designed also to be able to arrive in time to communicate to PLAST 2023 the first business results achieved. The Carbon Footprint calculation, in fact, is today the most immediate and universally accepted method for communicating and representing the environmental impact of an organisation. The project will adopt the parameters identified by the Ipcc (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a body operating under the aegis of the United Nations) applying internationally recognised protocols (GHG Protocol and ISO 14064). Translating one's activity into carbon dioxide emissions equivalent in the atmosphere is an index of attention to the environment and highlights the desire to adhere to the canons of sustainability that are today considered an added value.
The theme of sustainability, together with technological innovation, will pervade the six pavilions that will make up the fair, within an exhibition offer that ranges from materials to manufacturing processes, from finished products, such as packaging, which in Europe represents 40% of the total plastic production, to services, to the most advanced solutions developed by manufacturers of machinery, equipment, auxiliaries, and moulds for processing plastic and rubber.
After having launched, in May 2022, the GREENPLAST exhibition and conference - focused precisely on the sustainability aspects of materials, technologies and transformation processes for plastics and rubber - PLAST 2023 will also host the excellence of innovation in a green key: from increasingly sustainable and eco-friendly materials to machinery with reduced energy consumption and capable of transforming bio-based and recycled polymers; from processes that make it possible to use a smaller quantity of raw materials while maintaining a high level of performance to sorting and recycling plants.
The future of the plastics and rubber industry is therefore in Milan from 5 to 8 September, at an event where more than 1,200 exhibitors are present to date and official buyer delegations from at least thirty countries are expected. Pre-registration is now open for professionals who want to interact with a specialised offer and transversal answers to their needs in terms of products, technology, solutions and business.
