No more black plastics in Lidl packaging by 2021

By the end of 2021, Lidl Italia, a company of the Schwarz Group, will eliminate black plastics from the packaging of products distributed under its own brand and significantly increase their recyclability. The decision is part of the REset Plastic circular economy strategy of the Group, aiming at reaching an average of 20% of recycled materials in the plastic packaging of its store brands by the end of 2025.

"This is an important milestone in our plastic reduction strategy. In addition to limiting the use of this material, by eliminating black plastics we are in fact helping to strengthen the possibilities of recycling. A corporate strategy that sends a clear signal to the market and emphasizes the priority that Lidl Italia attributes to the adoption of a circular economy model", commented Eduardo Tursi, CEO purchasing & marketing of Lidl Italia.

In March 2018, Lidl Italia announced that by 2025 it would reduce the use of plastic in its packaging by at least 20% and make recyclable 100% of the plastic packaging of its own brand. With the new measures, Lidl Italia contributes to the REset Plastic International Strategy of the Schwarz Group which aims to reduce the use of plastics in all markets in which it operates and to create closed cycles
