Aliplast Acquires Post-Consumer PET Recycling Plant from Gurit Italia

Aliplast, a subsidiary of Herambiente and part of the Hera Group, and one of Europe’s leading companies in plastic regeneration, has acquired the PET recycling operations of Gurit Italia located in Carmignano di Brenta (Padua). The facility has an additional production capacity of approximately 15,000 tonnes of recycled PET per year. This investment is part of Aliplast’s strategy to meet the growing demand for recycled PET, which is also driven by the evolving regulatory framework in both the EU and Italy.

The Carmignano di Brenta plant processes post-consumer PET sourced from the recovery systems of the Corepla and Coripet consortia. Aliplast will integrate a new grinding, washing, and extrusion line to produce recycled PET suitable for both food contact applications (such as bottles and trays) and for use in fibres for consumer products, including clothing and automotive accessories. In addition to increasing production capacity, the acquisition will also help optimise Aliplast’s logistics chain, as it will incorporate Gurit’s extensive storage yards into its own goods flow.

This acquisition is, above all, in line with our industrial plan, which places resource regeneration at its core,” explained Michele Petrone, CEO of Aliplast. “It also continues a growth path that is not only expanding production capacity but increasingly focusing on quality and traceability, to ensure our clients the highest standards in supply chain transparency and product safety. It’s a long-term vision, and in 2024 it has rewarded us with a customer base increase of over 9% compared to the previous year.
