A Sorema “film-to-film” recycling plant to Polish Anna Recykling

Polyethylene films are nowadays playing an increasingly essential role in protecting food and goods throughout the whole supply chain, enabling correct and safe delivery. However, once they become waste, they have to be recycled too. As a result, the share of recycled films is rising all over Europe and especially in countries like Poland, where Anna Recykling, based in Celestynów near Warsaw, has chosen a film recycling plant manufactured by Sorema.

Founded in 1995, the Polish company has always been an active player in the production of polythene granules from industrial waste. In recent years, however, the growing demand for high quality material from post-consumer waste and the future-oriented vision of its management, have led Anna Recykling to search for a quality partner to work with in order to develop a post-consumer polyethylene film recycling project. Sorema was selected for this project in 2019, thanks to its specifically designed flexible washing line, able to guarantee the compliance with the parameters required for the production of high-quality material originated from stretch and post-industrial, post-consumer films, as well as from agricultural films, raffia and jumbo-bags.

The film-to-film recycling line includes the most advanced technical solutions by Sorema, such as the low-speed, high-torque hydraulic shredder, which was specifically designed by Previero, the holding company of Sorema, the super flexible prewashing system with high friction module and the prewashing centrifuge to process a wide range of contaminated materials. At the end of the line, there is a fluff storage to feed an extruder with dehumidified material.

Thanks to Sorema Line, Anna Recykling’s productivity grew beyond all expectations, reaching an output up to 1,000 kg/h of perfectly decontaminated and granulated material at a competitive quality/price ratio. The material obtained is then suitable for the extrusion on the blown films lines of the company located in Poland and abroad. Among the processors that use this material, it is worth mentioning Bogucki Folie, a leading producer in this field with B-ECO, an innovative three-layer polyethylene film based on 100% recycled material from post-consumer and post-industrial waste, thus closing the cycle of circular economy.
