Selenella (Consorzio Patata Italiana di Qualità or High-Quality Italian Potato Consortium) has unveiled its first paper packaging for carrots. The design of the packaging and its constituent raw materials are a complete innovation for the sector.
The packaging is made of recyclable paper with a transparent plastic-free window created using NoW™ - No waste technology, a new process that makes laminated papers 100% recyclable and sustainable.
In recognition of its high level of sustainability, the packaging has been awarded Aticelca Level A certification, which means it can be recycled together with paper with less than 10% waste. It is also resealable, ensuring longer lasting product freshness.
Selenella carrots have seen a 50% increase in sales over the last year and the market is expected to experience further growth in 2021. The Consorzio Patata Italiana di Qualità will continue to invest in this market in terms of acreage, research and development of new varieties and distribution.
