Smartphone and sustainability

Barcelona Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022 will take place from 28 February to 3 March, and Oppo unveiled its 2021 Sustainability Report, detailing the company’s actions in integrating sustainability and eco-friendly concepts into its entire product lifecycle as it continues to pursue its brand mission of “Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World”.

“3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) + 1D (Degradable)” Green Packaging Principles
Approximately 45% of the packaging industry of smartphones is made by recycled fiber, reducing the use of raw materials.
The overall plastic used in packaging of smartphones has reduced by 95% since 2019. For plastic materials that cannot be replaced for now, Oppo also uses the biodegradable polylactic acid material (PLA).

Furthermore, in the European Union and other regions, Oppo provides local recycling systems with financial support, participates in the Green Dot (the financing symbol for the organisation of recovery, sorting and recycling of sales packaging) recycling program for packaging waste, and works with professional third-party recycling companies.
