At the annual trade fair in Rimini, Tomra Recycling Sorting launched the world premiere of the new Innosort Flake for sorting plastic flakes. A testimony to the company's constant commitment and its ability to innovate by investing in research and development.
The new plastic flake sorter, which completes the company's wide range of systems for sorting different types of materials such as wood, metal, paper, aluminium and plastic, is capable of sorting plastic flakes simultaneously according to polymer, colour and transparency, obtaining very pure flakes even from contaminated material. Innosort Flake can in fact separate polyolefins (PO) polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), which are often mixed with other materials in the same waste stream, to meet quality requirements for extrusion and create post-consumer recycled content (PCR).
Specifically, Innosort Flake has the ability to sort any colour and any polymer simultaneously, simplifying the work of recycling plants and giving them the opportunity to respond to different market demands quickly and flexibly.
At this historic time, when the industry is striving to increase the recycled content of post-consumer plastic products (European legislation mandates a 30% recycled plastic content by 2030), the launch of the new sorter comes at a particularly favourable time, providing an ideal solution for obtaining as much recyclable material as possible from any waste stream.
