AgriEuro continues to bolster its logistics capabilities with the introduction of a second packaging line at its Piacenza facility. This development marks a significant evolution for the company, which, in February 2023, in partnership with logistics provider Fercam, announced a doubling of its logistics space, expanding by an additional 12,500 square metres and increasing storage capacity to 14,000 pallets.
In February 2021, AgriEuro - in collaboration with Fercam - introduced an innovative and flexible packaging solution, specifically designed to meet the company’s needs with a focus on truly efficient green logistics. This line, dedicated to packaging parcels with outer packaging up to 80 kg, enabled the processing of over 100,000 parcels per year using recycled cardboard and paper tape closures, thereby completely eliminating the use of plastic and filler materials.
The increasing saturation of production capacity and the growing volumes of goods in storage prompted AgriEuro to plan further investments, leading to the development of a second packaging line now operational at the Piacenza facility, under the management of the new joint venture Dachser & Fercam Italy. This new line is distinguished by its efficiency, handling parcels up to 25 kg with greater speed than the initial facility.
One of the key innovations of this second line is the introduction of “tilting belts” technology, which facilitates the automatic closure of the lower flaps of parcels, while a special paper tape machine seals the upper flaps. Additionally, the system maintains high standards of traceability and ensures the precise application of shipping labels, a crucial element for the quality of service provided by AgriEuro.
With a production capacity of one parcel every 20 seconds, this new line can package up to 1,800 parcels per day during a 16-hour work shift. This achievement results from a project that took two years to complete and involved numerous professionals, further solidifying AgriEuro’s position as a leader in the e-commerce market with exclusive and cutting-edge logistics solutions.
We are proud to announce the introduction of this second packaging line at our Piacenza facility. This significant advancement not only allows us to increase our production capacity and respond more efficiently to the growing market demands but also represents a further commitment to innovative and sustainable logistics solutions. The new line, equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as the tilting conveyors and paper tape sealing machine, enables us to maintain high quality standards in packaging our products while simultaneously reducing our environmental impact,
stated Roberto Arduini, Logistics Manager at AgriEuro.
The renewed partnership with AgriEuro represents a valuable opportunity for us to continue supporting their development toward greater efficiency and sustainability. We are proud to contribute to the implementation of innovative logistics solutions, always keeping service quality at the forefront, to the benefit of the end customer,
commented Nicola Grazioli, Branch Manager of Dachser & Fercam Italy in Piacenza.
