Sanpellegrino is continuing its sustainability journey, focusing on improving packaging and optimising production processes to reduce environmental impact. In 2023, the Group achieved a significant milestone in recycling and the use of sustainable materials, such as R-PET, marking a crucial step towards packaging circularity.
“Sustainability has always been an integral part of our corporate culture because we have a responsibility to preserve a precious resource like water and bring it to our consumers' tables. Our business model is therefore based on sustainable growth that respects the environment and resources to promote a high-quality future for people, communities, and the Planet. This is why we are committed to developing projects that amplify the positive impact of our activities while also reducing our ecological footprint,”
stated Michel Beneventi, CEO of the Sanpellegrino Group.
R-PET and Reduction of Virgin PET
In 2023, Sanpellegrino used 12,950 tonnes of R-PET, an increase of 79% compared to the previous year. This commitment significantly reduced the use of virgin PET, positively impacting waste management and the conservation of natural resources. For example, the Levissima range is made up of at least 25% R-PET, two years ahead of the European requirement.
Packaging Innovations for a Greener Future
Sustainability is also a priority for Acqua Panna and S.Pellegrino brands: both lines now use 30% R-PET. The adoption of these materials not only reduces the ecological footprint but also fosters the creation of a true circular economy, where material can be reused endlessly.
Recycling Projects and Global Collaboration
Sanpellegrino is also engaged internationally, collaborating on recycling initiatives and reducing waste in the environment. Currently, 88% of exported products are sold in countries with advanced recycling practices, reinforcing the concept of global responsibility in sustainability.
A Continuous Commitment to the Future
The Group, which has long adopted recycling and reuse practices, continues to strive for packaging optimisation to minimise environmental impact, confirming that sustainability is an essential value in its mission for responsible growth.
