Sensoplast acquires forewood and expands its portfolio of sustainable closures

To support its customers in the dietary supplements, food and cosmetics sectors in their transition towards more sustainable solutions, German company Sensoplast has announced a major expansion of its portfolio through the acquisition of all assets of forewood®, a company specialising in the development of sustainable closure and packaging solutions.

Wood- and plant fibre-based closures

Forewood®'s technologies have been used for several years in branded consumer products and are commercially available through a network of distributors. Their key distinguishing feature is the use of wood and plant fibres instead of conventional plastic polymers.

According to the company, these closures deliver high technical performance, offering excellent stability, mechanical strength and barrier properties, characteristics that have often proved challenging to achieve with sustainable packaging alternatives. At the same time, they combine environmental sustainability with premium quality and attractive design.

By integrating forewood®'s technology, Sensoplast is expanding its range with a new portfolio of nature-based packaging components, providing customers with additional opportunities to develop more sustainable packaging solutions. Beyond the existing product offering, the acquisition also enables the company to deliver customised developments and tailor its technologies to specific application requirements.

A family-owned company with a strong international focus, Sensoplast manufactures and supplies plastic, elastomer and glass closure and dispensing systems. The company specialises in the development, production and assembly of high-quality primary packaging solutions for sealing and dispensing applications in the food, nutraceutical and cosmetics industries.
