Jozo salt shakers, which are partially recyclable due to their multi-component structure of cardboard, aluminium (tube), polyethylene (base) and polystyrene (PE/PS cap), have now become fully recyclable thanks to Dutch packaging manufacturer SFA Packaging, which has transformed them into single-material solutions in PP with IML labels.
Alexander Heinsdijk, Business Development and Marketing Manager at SFA Packaging, said:
Driven by Jozo's forward-thinking commitment to sustainable progress and true to our mission to provide circular and 100% recyclable packaging, we wanted to go one step further to meet the ever-changing packaging regulations. Together with label printing specialist MCC Verstraete and Jozo, we replaced standard IML labels with NextCycle IML TM technology.
The results have proven successful in terms of print quality, convertibility and, most importantly, recyclability. As a next-generation PP solution, NextCycle IML TM labels are designed to remain attached to the container throughout its lifecycle, without compromising their adhesive properties, and at the same time be able to separate from the container during the mechanical recycling process.
In fact, NextCycle IML TM technology allows the packaging to enter the recycling process without the label, resulting in white recycled material that can be returned to the shelf without the addition of additives or dyes.
