At Chinaplas 2025, the Reifenhäuser Group unveils its latest innovations for the efficient and sustainable production of plastic films. From 15 to 18 April, at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center (Stand 10G21), the German extrusion specialist presents cutting-edge solutions that support the packaging industry’s transition towards circularity and climate responsibility.
A key highlight will be the company’s Machine Direction Orientation (MDO) technologies, which enable the production of fully recyclable mono-material films that match the performance and cost-effectiveness of conventional multi-material structures - long considered non-recyclable.
We’re seeing strong market demand for fully recyclable flexible packaging solutions,” said Marcel Perrevort, CSO of the Reifenhäuser Group. “Our technology allows manufacturers to produce high-performance PE or PP mono-material films while reducing both material consumption and production costs.
High-performance mono-materials made possible
The EVO Ultra Stretch MDO unit, integrated directly into the haul-off of blown film lines, makes it possible to produce PE films as thin as 18 µm with the performance of a 25 µm film - optimising efficiency while reducing the EVOH barrier content to below 5%, in full compliance with recyclability standards.
Reifenhäuser applies the same principle to its CPP/CPE cast film lines for fully recyclable PP films, which are ideally suited for food and medical packaging. The lines can be equipped with the PAM automation system (precise, autonomous, mechatronic), which automates adjustments to coextrusion adapters and dies, ensuring precision, ease of use, and consistent quality - even for less experienced operators.
Once production settings are stored, they can be recalled instantly at the press of a button. With 99% lower energy consumption compared to conventional thermal bolt systems, PAM offers a compelling solution in the face of skilled labour shortages and sustainability demands.
Smart cooling boosts output and film quality
Also featured at the Reifenhäuser stand is Kdesign, the group’s subsidiary specialising in cooling, measuring and calibration systems for blown film production. The renowned KARAT cooling ring sets industry benchmarks for maximum cooling performance, tight film tolerances and user-friendly operation, delivering up to 50% higher output than mid-range systems and 25% more than top-end competitors.
Kdesign also offers innovative secondary cooling units such as the CENTRO-Freeze, which cools the bubble prior to flattening to prevent film blocking, increase output and reduce reliance on anti-block additives - all while enhancing film properties.
With over 20 years of experience in retrofitting and OEM line support, Kdesign’s systems are built to meet the needs of both modernisation projects and new production facilities focused on energy efficiency and film quality.
