Interreg Central Europe, the European Union's development programme for the whole of Central Europe, involving various public and private bodies, has co-funded D4Pack, a project that aims to create a specific tool for agri-food SMEs to help them in the evaluation phases of a new packaging, considering risks and opportunities through a business logic and analysing each decision phase (technical, legal, economic, environmental and social).
The development of this Technology Transfer Service (TTS) will help agri-food SMEs to select the most appropriate packaging and to carry out a self-diagnosis of innovation risk with a view to packaging redesign.
The project involves eight partners from five different European countries who will work together for two and a half years. Through this collaboration, D4Pack will develop a support tool to help companies assess the impact of new packaging on their production, taking into account the technical, environmental, legal, economic and social aspects of this change.
The first meeting with all partners was held in Verona (Italy) on 17 and 18 June, during which a series of presentations covered various aspects, including: strategies, ideas, objectives, achievements, expected results, approval of the monitoring plan and development of the action plan for the first six months.
