In Rimini we met Michele Petrone, Managing Director of Aliplast, a leading company in plastics regeneration
Between new plants, advanced materials and supply chain projects, the objective is to close the circle and make recycling a concrete industrial model.
"2025 has been a year of consolidation," Petrone told us amongst the pavilions of the Rimini event. "With the expansion of the Borgolavezzaro site underway and the construction of the new Modena plant, which will come on stream in 2026. Two investments that will allow us to increase production capacity and expand the range of materials treated, from PET to rigid plastics."
Aliplast oversees the entire recycling cycle, from collection to finished product, focusing on quality, traceability and innovation. "We develop high-performance regenerated materials for packaging, automotive, home & care and electronics, capable of competing with virgin polymers," Petrone emphasised.
Regarding the new European SUP and PPWR regulations, Petrone has no doubts: "Clearer rules help distinguish those who truly invest in sustainability. But infrastructure and collaboration are needed to make recycling a systemic choice."
Among the most innovative projects presented at Ecomondo stands the collaboration with Imbotex, which applies the circular model to textiles, regenerating PET bottles into flakes then fibres to become padding for sportswear. "We want to be a system player," Petrone summarised, "capable of promoting replicable industrial models and demonstrating that plastic can truly return to being a resource worth betting on".
