In collaboration with Skånemejerier, Mondi has developed a mono-material packaging for Hushållsost cheese in 1 and 2 kg, consisting of a polypropylene base and a film on top, which will soon be on the shelves of ICA, a leading Swedish supermarket chain.
The packaging provides a high barrier to oxygen and steam, keeping the product fresh at all times. It also provides extra protection for the cheese thanks to its high puncture resistance and, thanks to the enormous printing versatility, both the brand name and disposal instructions are clearly marked on the pack.
The pack is being launched in conjunction with Site Zero, Sweden's largest plastic packaging disposal facility, which will be able to efficiently sort and recycle Mondi's new solution, turning it into another product and enabling a circular flow of plastics.
