Amcor and Avon launched the AmPrima Plus refill pouch for Avon Little Black Dress classic shower gels in China. The recyclable packaging, made in polyethylene, will result in an 83% reduction in carbon footprint and an 88% and 79% reduction in water consumption and renewable energy, respectively, when it's recycled.
In line with Avon's ambition to use 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging for its products by 2030, Amcor's research and development teams worked with Avon to design and develop its first refill pouch using recyclable material. The AmPrima refill pouch is designed to provide a more sustainable packaging solution that also offers the barrier properties, stiffness, graphic performance and run speeds of non-recyclable alternatives, while providing convenience to consumers.
We are proud to provide a recyclable solution that enhances the functionality and consumer appeal of such an iconic brand as Avon",
said Roawin Luo, Global Director of Product Management at Amcor.
Avon has recently accelerated its sustainability goals to include 50% recycled content in all plastics used (by weight) by 2030 and to support collection schemes in key markets.
Abby Deng, Marketing Head of AVON China, stated:
Our collaboration with Amcor is truly transformative. By integrating a refill format with a recyclable film material, we've innovated a fresh refill pack for our iconic Avon Little Black Dress shower gels. This partnership marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainability and innovation, allowing consumers to enjoy our high quality products while contributing to a greener future. We look forward to bringing this exciting new product to the Chinese market and beyond, further strengthening Avon’s position as a leader in sustainable beauty and personal care.
