Packaging Speaks Green starts with international legislation and society

The legislative aspects and international cultural trends related to the use of packaging will be the themes of the Plenary Session on the first day of the Forum.

The third edition of Packaging Speaks Green will be officially opened on Tuesday 3 May afternoon by Manlio Di Stefano, Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, followed by panels devoted to international legislation and consumption trends.

The first international guest of the 2022 edition will be Richard Cope, Senior Trends Consultant at Mintel and author of Mintel Sustainability Barometer 2021, with a speech dedicated to the evolution of consumption and its impact on packaging in a mix of myths to be debunked and proactive opportunities for the industry.

Imen Jane, Founder and Partner of Will and Media Exper Forbes Under 30, will then give an overview of Gen Z's perspective on sustainability.
Nerida Kelton of WPO (World Packaging Organisation) will return to the stage of Packaging Speaks Green during the Regulatory Frameworks session with a speech entitled: "What the world of packaging looks like".

“EU regulatory Developments-Packaging” will instead be the focus of the speech by Francesca Stevens of Europen, followed by Shweta Pandey and Ashish Sachdeva of Green Dream Foundation, an Indian non-profit organization committed to generating awareness, involvement and promotion of environmental issues, who will present the speech "The new EPR regulations and the new SUP regulations".
After an overview of the financing possibilities available to companies for the sustainable development of production, Alessandro Broglia of Up 2 You will talk about "Offsetting: why it has to be part of the solution".

In the session dedicated to the approach to sustainability of the e-commerce world, the protagonist will be Mattia Miglio of Alibaba.com, with a speech dedicated to the sustainable approach implemented by the platform.
Luca Fernando Ruini, President of Conai will conclude the first day of the Forum with “Modello di riciclaggio Made In Italy” an outline of the Italian way to recycling that makes Italy one of the most virtuous countries in the EU with 68% separate collection, and 21.6% materials from recyclate collection (source: Circular Economy Network).

Registrations are also open on the Conference website, offering the opportunity of two free accesses to the exhibition centre.

The Forum will take place concurrently with two major fairs: Ipack-IMA, dedicated to processing & packaging technologies and GreenPlast, focused on the plastics and rubber industry.

Packaging Speaks Green 2022 is organized by Pack-Media with the support of UCIMA (Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers’ Association) and AMAPLAST (Italian Plastics and Rubber Processing Machinery and Moulds Manufacturers’ Association).

The supporters of the initiative include companies representing excellence in the field of packaging and packaging machinery manufacturing: Ima, Marchesini Group, Robopac and OCME. Alongside these international players, also IIP – Istituto Italiano dei Plastici.

The event is organized under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and of ICE-Agenzia.
