GreenPlast 2025 opens its doors: plastics and sustainability take centre stage at the exhibition-conference

GreenPlast opens today at Fiera Milano, the international exhibition and conference dedicated to technologies and materials for plastics and rubber processing, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. Running until 30 May 2025, the event confirms its growing relevance for industry professionals, with 200 confirmed exhibitors (up from 170 in 2022) from 19 countries, spread over an area of 5,500 square metres. A significant achievement, especially in light of the current economic climate.

The 2025 edition confirms the event’s growth and increasing importance for industry professionals, with 200 exhibitors confirmed (compared to 170 in 2022) coming from 19 countries across a 5,500-square metre exhibition space. This is a significant result, particularly in light of the current economic climate.

We are very pleased with this achievement”, said Mario Maggiani, CEO of Promaplast, the event organiser. “Despite the challenging period for several sectors, we have exceeded the figures from the previous edition. It is a clear sign of the sector’s interest and desire to innovate.

A Bridge Between Markets: International Delegations at GreenPlast
Thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) and leading trade associations, GreenPlast 2025 will host official delegations of buyers from around 20 countries across Europe, the Mediterranean basin, and the Middle East. Over 100 industry professionals are expected, active in the production and recycling of plastics goods, all seeking innovative solutions to optimise their processes.

Shaping a Sustainable Future for Plastics
At the heart of the event will be the international conference Shaping a Sustainable Future for Plastics, organised by AMI – Applied Market Information and Promaplast. The conference will bring together experts, companies, and stakeholders from across the supply chain to discuss the challenges, regulations, and innovations surrounding polymer sustainability.

Panel discussions will include brand owners, major retailers, raw material producers, and converters, with a focus extending beyond packaging to sectors such as automotive and construction, where plastics are widely used. Topics will range from waste management and both mechanical and chemical recycling to ecodesign, the future of bioplastics, marine pollution, and the use of AI to reduce environmental impact.

In addition, “Tech Talks” – short presentations delivered by exhibitors – will provide direct insight into the latest advanced technological solutions.

From Function to Emotion: Plastics Reborn Through Art
Sustainability at GreenPlast goes beyond the technical sphere. This is reflected in the eagerly awaited Art&Plastics exhibition, which in this edition will feature original projects such as the creations of LadyBe, Plastica d’Artista (curated by Pina Inferrera), Arte da mangiare mangiare Arte, and Museo Acqua Franca (projects by topylabrys). This year, they will be joined by the MAP – Museum of Plastic Art in Castiglione Olona.

Through art, secondary raw materials are capable of telling stories, conveying emotion, and illustrating new possibilities for circularity.
