A well-known brand of sweetening products since 1899, Eridania is going increasingly "green". Among the latest innovations from the Italian company, which obtained the recognition of historical brand of national interest last September, there are the new "talking" sugar packs that illustrate the company’s improvements in terms of production, transport and resources used. The aim is to provide information to the consumer on the constant commitment of Eridania in terms of sustainability, EPD (environmental product declaration), the consolidation of existing measures such as the single transport system, by rail, which reduces CO2 emissions, and the renewal of the collaboration with the ADI, the Italian Association of dietetics and clinical nutrition, for a responsible consumption.
The unmistakable red colour will remain unchanged, but the new packaging will make clear the commitment to a sweeter future and the savings in terms of CO2 emissions, water and energy used, for minimising the impact on our planet and its resources. The new classic sugar packs will report information about Eridania’s sustainability policy, a result of the in-depth analysis necessary to obtain the EPD certificate.
The EPD is a document which objectively describes the environmental impact related to the production of a certain quantity of product and analyses the consumption of resources (materials, water, energy) in the various phases of the life cycle of the product itself. From the results returned by the EPD it emerges that Eridania’s is one of the most sustainable sugars currently available on the market in terms of environmental impact, since it reduces CO2 emissions by 35%, saving a huge amount of water every year (equivalent to 500 Olympic swimming pools) and whose packaging uses 100% energy from renewable sources.
The new sugar packs will be available at supermarkets from April 2022.
