Kurz and Luxoro: together for the environment. The initiatives of the two partners who, albeit with due differences, demonstrate an uncommon community of intent and having long implemented a forward-looking strategy.
Part of a longstanding collaboration, Luxoro Srl is the exclusive distributor for Italy of the finishing products of Kurz Group, a world player in finishing technologies, quality and cutting-edge solutions designed to make products and packaging unique and inimitable: materials and tools for hot and cold stamping as well as digital metallization for different surfaces – whether paper, textile or plastic - and suitable for different sectors.
Always sensitive to the issue of sustainability, Kurz and Luxoro have already for several years put in place several specific initiatives to eliminate the environmental impact of their processes, both in terms of production and product..
Regarding Luxoro
> With the multi-year membership of LifeGate’s Impatto Zero® project - the initiative that calculates, reduces and compensates for CO2 emissions - Luxoro can truly be defined today as a "total zero impact" concern.
> To this must be added the consolidated use of sustainable energy over the years (which certifies it as an active partner in the energy transition towards 100% renewable resources) and, of course, the practice of the correct disposal of industrial waste.
Regarding Kurz
> A cornerstone of the Group's sustainability policy is the reduction of freight transportation costs. This international concern has in fact decided to produce locally, relying on production sites spread all over the world, each serving their respective area, to be able to manage the logistics service in less time, with reduced costs while significantly reducing the environmental consequences.
> The development of recyclable and compostable materials is the other cornerstone of the Group's environmental strategy. In fact, Kurz printing technologies stand out not only for the exceptional quality and efficiency of the processes, but also for their high degree of recyclability: in fact, its products are not laminates, metallized paper or laminated cardboard, but are produced "by transfer".
In this regard, a reminder that the aluminium thickness of a Kurz product is 6,000 times less than that of a hair’s breadth and that the final decoration is PET free (the exhausted PET is discarded and can be included in the industrial waste disposal cycle and can also be reproposed as a secondary fuel in an energy regeneration plant).
For its product recyclability tests, Kurz contacted an independent institute authorized to certify the deinking process, a test in which it scored 100/100, the highest rating.
Once applied, Kurz products remain separate from the paper fibers and, even in the de-inking process, they remain separate without affecting the recycled paper, thus suiting all disposal systems, so much so that tests have shown that decorated surfaces can be recycled 100%.
Lastly, the compostability of several top Kurz products has also been certified, which is not minimally hampered by applying up to a maximum of 1% of the mass of the transfer product over the total of the final substrate including the decoration.
