Recycled packaging for TotalEnergies premium wood pellets

TotalEnergies Premium Wood Pellets are now packaged in high performance polyethylene bags containing 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material.

The new innovative packaging consists of a core layer of rPE2206, a 100% PCR low density polyethylene (LDPE) grade from the RE:clic range of circular polymers, and high performance virgin Lumicene and Supertough metallocene resins. It has the same properties and thickness as fossil-based alternatives, with a significantly reduced environmental footprint. In addition, the printed area of the packaging has been reduced by 60% to improve recyclability and limit ink usage.

This development is the result of an internal effort within TotalEnergies to implement the circular economy in its own use of plastics.

This project is a great example of our commitment as a company to promote sustainability by implementing our own innovative developments in our businesses. It contributes to addressing the challenge of end-of-life plastics and marks a new milestone in our ambition to produce 30% circular polymers by 2030,

said Olivier Greiner, Vice President, Polymers Europe & Orient at TotalEnergies.

Our customers choose TotalEnergies Pellets Premium for their heating energy because it is both a cost-effective and sustainable solution. The new packaging, developed in collaboration with the Polymers Division, facilitates recycling and helps reduce the carbon footprint of our activities,
