Some packages protect products with every fibre of their being. Cardboard is one of these. For cellulose-based material to remain usable in a sustainable manner, it must meet a series of requirements.
To produce recycled cardboard, the fibres are shredded and mixed with water to obtain a homogeneous pulp. In the final step, the prepared fibrous mass is poured onto the machine sieve, where the actual forming process begins.
The process may seem simple, but it is not, because only almost completely untreated cardboard can be recycled efficiently. If, for example, the cardboard is coated with PE or aluminium, separation becomes difficult and the result is inferior compared to cardboard without coatings.
Simple and simultaneously minimal packaging solutions, on the other hand, offer many advantages in recycling and comply with the EU PPWR regulation, which supports the production and use of monomaterial packaging.
Machinery manufacturers, such as Schubert, support consumer goods producers in using recycled packaging materials, providing regulatory consultancy and material testing.
Gerhard Schubert is known worldwide as a market leader in top loading machines (TLM). The family-owned company from Crailsheim (in Baden-Württemberg, Germany) builds digital, robotised packaging machines featuring a proven mix of simple mechanics, intelligent control and advanced modular structure. With this philosophy and a unique culture of innovation spanning nearly 60 years, the company continues to break new ground in technological development.
With TLM technology, the manufacturer provides its customers with packaging solutions suited to future requirements, easy to operate, flexible in format changeover, high-performance and stable in operation. TLM machines package the most diverse products for any sector (food, confectionery, beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and technical articles) in trays, cartons, boxes or flowpacks.
Not only major pharmaceutical industry brands and many consumer goods manufacturers rely on Schubert's automated solutions, but also many small, medium-sized and family-owned companies. The corporate group, founded in 1966, has now reached its second generation and employs over 1,800 people.
