Green issues apply not only to materials but to technologies too. Under the impetus of the Industry 4.0 plan, the final stage of digitisation involved integrating existing systems with digital technologies in order to create systems that can manage, interpret, and bring value to the large amount of data available. This efficiency boost has also had a knock-on effect for sustainability, since it has led to lower consumption of resources and materials and, therefore, lower emissions. This means system manufacturers – amongst others – have had the opportunity to develop solutions that meet circular design needs in response to manufacturers’ commitment to creating sustainable products with long-term value.
This is the topic that Michele Frascaroli will be exploring, as technical director at CRIT, which offers technological scouting and innovation development services to companies in the NFA (accredited suppliers network).
