One of the main European players in flexible packaging, Goglio aims to revolutionize logistics for restaurants and pizzerias by flexible packaging for food storage.
Innovative flexible packaging provides enormous advantages with respect to traditional metal containers used to store ingredients.
Presented at Host 2021, Goglio’s flexible packaging has been adopted by leading producers of ingredients such as tomatoes, olives, artichokes, and mushrooms, and successfully tested by some of Italy’s leading pizza makers.
Flexible packaging offers significant benefits with respect to the metal containers traditionally used in the pizzeria market. It is lighter and more space-efficient, thus easier to transport and stock, and - given its high level of compressibility once emptied of its contents - much easier to discard.
The greater ease of transport and stocking brings economic, logistical, and environmental advantages, since fewer deliveries are necessary, simplifying logistics and reducing emissions.
Further environmental benefits with respect to traditional containers derive from reduced emissions in the production process for flexible packaging. Full product lifecycle studies of tomato sauce packaging in the European market - multi-material flexible pouches, steel cans, glass jars - show that flexible packaging can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 60% with respect to cans and up to 50% with respect to glass.
