Sonoco, a company committed to sustainable innovation, has announced an important development in the packaging sector: the introduction of a recyclable jar made up of 95% paper, which complements the EnviroCan Paper Bottom range as part of its mission to reduce environmental impact.
A New Era for Paper Packaging
Sonoco has recently collaborated with Nestlé to develop recyclable paper containers for coffee-based products. The body of the jar is made from 95% paper, replacing the traditional metal bottom with a fibre one. This makes the packaging completely recyclable, in line with European regulations.
Its lightweight design facilitates handling and transport while maintaining a high level of product protection, thanks to its barrier properties that are comparable to those of traditional containers with metal bottoms.
Towards Fully Recyclable Packaging
Seàn Cairns, President of Global RPC at Sonoco, stated:
We are proud to have contributed to this innovation in the coffee market by introducing a new jar with a recyclable paper bottom and medium-to-high barrier properties. This represents a significant step towards increasingly sustainable packaging that meets market demands and consumer expectations.
A Commitment to the Future of Sustainable Packaging
The EnviroCan Paper Bottom range, of which this new packaging is a part, is designed with the aim of reducing environmental impact. Sonoco continues to strengthen its authority in the sustainable packaging sector by offering cutting-edge solutions that minimise environmental impact and support customers in transitioning towards a more circular and environmentally-friendly economy.
